Cwmamman United are continuing their strong start to the season with a 3-1 home victory over CKSV on Friday evening.

The win marks the third consecutive triumph in the Macron Premier League for the club on their home turf - Grenig Park - since the season's inception.

Cwmamman United showed a sharp improvement in the second half of the game, after a challenging first half from CKSV.

The initial minutes of the game saw CKSV putting pressure on Cwmamman's defence but despite their efforts, Cwmamman took the lead just 11 minutes in.

Ryan Gibbons marked his debut with a ruthless finish after securing a loose ball, netting his first league goal for the club.

CKSV demonstrated resilience by keeping up their attacking style, with perpetual threats headed off by Cwmamman's James Gorman and Cam Williams.

A game leveller came from CKSV on the 31st minute as Patrick Harry landed an excellent finish from a crossed ball into Cwmamman's goalmouth.

The debutant goalie for Cwmamman, Kurtis Bray, showcased his brilliance with a one-handed save preventing a certain goal from CKSV just moments after, allowing Cwm to head into the half-time break on equal footing.

The second half showcased a different style by Cwmamman, with dominance from midfielders Alfie Phillips, Myles Perkins and substitute Ryan Cole.

A shot by Elliott Smith from close to the penalty spot in the 56th minute put Cwmamman back in the lead, a gap getting wider despite seeing a looping shot hit the bar and another cleared off the line, shortly after the goal.

A disputed tackle on Smith within the CKSV penalty box only led to a corner.

However, Smith's heated moments soon subsided, as he scored a goal in the 83rd minute, clinching the victory for Cwmamman.

The recent victory puts Cwmamman United two points shy of full marks with a total of 10 in their kitty out of a possible 12.

The next match for Cwmamman is on August 20, against another unbeaten team, St Josephs FC, at Underhill Park Mumbles.
