Cwmamman United continued their strong start to the season with another win.
The team beat Glais FC 3-1 in the Macron Premier League.
Despite a late challenge, Tuesday's match saw Cwmamman United's strong possession play, dominantly held the first half, lead to three crucial goals scored by Elliot Smith, Dan Briggs, and Iestyn Evans, all before half time.
New addition Briggs made an impactful statement, scoring a powerful goal just four minutes after replacing injured Cam Berry.
Cwm's midfield - Myles Perkins, Charlie Davies, and Alfie Phillips - kept a steady tempo and tightly-knit unit through contributions to both attack and defence.
The second half, however, presented more complications for Cwm.
James Gorman was sin binned after clutching the ball and Lewis Gibbs, Cwm's goalkeeper, was red carded for an off-ball incident.
This predicament left Cwm standing with just nine players, especially painful as a penalty kick was awarded due to Gibbs' incident.
Despite being up 3-1 with nine men for seven minutes and 10 men for the final 20 minutes, Cwm resiliently held off Glais.
This was largely due to Cam Williams and Jackson Brereton’s commendable defensive work.
Cwm still managed to create chances even as the clock ticked down, with Perkins and Smith narrowly missing enhancing their lead.
In conclusion, it was a hard-fought and much deserved three points for Cwmamman, following a dynamic first half and a tenacious response to Glais FC’s late surge.
The team will continue their campaign in the league as they face CKSV at Grenig Park on August 16 at 7pm.
