BRYN Rovers AFC players have supported a local mental health charity through a month-long fitness challenge.

The Brynaman club has raised £1,290 for Lles Brynaman after members walked, cycled and ran a total of 2,318 mile between them.

Wayne Preston, club secretary said: "It was decided to set up a fitness challenge throughout the month of February. The reason for this was twofold, we wanted to keep club members engaged with club activities during these difficult times, and we also wanted to raise funds for our adopted local charity Lles Brynaman, which helps people suffering with mental health.

"Thanks to the organisational skills of Dan Williams, head of senior football at the club, a Just Giving page was set up on our social media platforms with members tracking their progress through the Strava fitness app."

The club's challenge was to walk, run or cycle as many miles as possible during February and raise as much money as they could.

Wayne added: "The challenge was open to all members, young and old irrespective of abilities and thanks to the sterling efforts of everyone involved, an incredible total of 2,318 was achieved and the tremendous sum of £1,290 was raised. An amazing achievement by all."
