A PLANNING application has been submitted for a new 250-seat stand at Ammanford AFC.

The stand expansion is required for the club to comply with Football Association of Wales (FAW) criteria after the club was promoted in 2018 to division one of the Welsh Football League - or as it is now know the Cymru South regional league.

According to the plans the new stand will extend onto the existing stand that is placed in the Recreation Ground.

The new stand will bring the total number of seats to 500.

A planning statement issued to Carmarthenshire Council states: "Its construction will allow the club to continue on playing in the FAW Pyramid system, and will also enable the ground to be utilised for junior related events, including regional finals.

"Also community events at certain times of the year could be accommodated.

"The site is currently used by our Football club for both senior and Junior football games.

"It is currently used for spectators to view matches, as will be the use after this development."

The stand will be a modular construction out of fabricated steel and cladding.

A decision is expected to be made on the plans by the council's planning department in the coming months.
