AMMANFORD will return to competitive football this weekend as the first round of the Nathaniel MG Cup gets underway.

It will be a return to action for the first time since March and the club will be determined to progress to the next round.

Ammanford will visit Trefelin on Saturday, December 12, and the game kicks off at 1.30pm

They progressed from the first round in last season’s competition and will be looking for a similar result this time around.

The format for all competitions was confirmed on Monday, November 30 after confirmation that the JD Cymru North and South had been designated ‘elite status’ by Sport Wales.

The First Round will comprise 26 Tier 2 Men’s clubs, 13 clubs respectively from both the JD Cymru North and South based on the 2019/20 season rankings, who will be joined by the two wildcard entries in the First Round.

Consequently, Carmarthen Town, Swansea University and Briton Ferry Llansawel from the JD Cymru South and Airbus UK Broughton, Prestatyn Town and Guilsfield from the JD Cymru North will receive byes into the Second Round alongside the remaining JD Cymru Premier clubs.

The National League Board confirmed that both leagues would play a shortened 15-match season scheduled to start in 2021. Each club will play each other once, with the clubs scheduled to play eight home matches to be determined by a random draw.

In line with the FAW Pyramid Regulations, promotion and relegation will take place as normal.
