Graham Potter says his Albion side will not be a soft touch against Steve Bruce’s fired-up Newcastle.
The Albion boss accused his side of being “a bit soft” last time he went up against one of Bruce’s teams.
That was when Swansea lost 3-1 at Sheffield Wednesday last season.
The two bosses go head to head again at St James’ Park today (5.30pm).
Newcastle are keen to secure a first home win of the season.
But Potter reckons his Seagulls side have the backbone to deal with the occasion.
Albion’s head coach said: “You go to St James’ Park and it’s a hostile place.
“The crowd get behind the home team, rightly so, and we know we have to stand up to a good, organised team with threats going forward and experience around the pitch.
“This group have shown a competitive nature in all the games.
“Of course, you can have a bad moment.
“I think at Swansea it was a 20 or 30-minute period which undid us and, with a young group, you can have that.
“With these guys, I have no concerns about that.”
