Cwmbran Celtic - 1

Cwmamman United - 2

Cwmamman United travelled to Celtic Park and came away with a hard fought 2-1 win against a determined Cwmbran Celtic side eager to halt a run of defeats.

Goals from Colin Harris and Ryan Thomas saw the visitors come back from a goal down to claim victory on the road.

Speaking after the game, Cwmamman manager Eirian Rees said: “This is always a tough place to come, so I am delighted with how the boys fought back so hard to come from behind and get the win.”

As has happened a few times this season Cwm were a little slow out of the blocks and Cwmbran had early control of the game.

After seven minutes, an unlucky handball by Ben Thomas on the edge of the box saw Cwmbran awarded a free kick.

Josh Bull stepped up and curled the ball around the left side of the wall and into the net to put his side 1-0 up.

Cwm came out fired up for the second half and with Gareth Howarth and Declan John controlling the back four Cwmbran’s attack was no longer a threat.

In a crazy 5 minute spell Cwm saw a number of chances go begging with scrambles in the goalmouth seeing the ball cleared.

Inevitably something was coming and as Chris Allen raced on to a great cross he was brought down in the box. Ryan Thomas stepped up and calmly put the penalty away.

Luke Williams and Kyle Ashford then came on for Cwm keeping up the pressure and on 82 mins the ever increasingly nervous Cwmbran defence panicked and a weak header back to the goalkeeper saw the ball spilt and the predatory Colin Harris pounced to round the keeper and tuck it away, handing Cwm the lead, and victory.
