Llantwit Major - 0

Cwmamman United – 1

AN audacious Ashley Curtis chip proved the difference as Cwmamman United grabbed a 1-0 victory at Llantwit Major.

The Cwm management will be especially pleased with the victory having gone into the match with five regular first team players unavailable.

Cwm started positively and within five minutes the speedy Ryan Hurlow was through on the keeper only to see his effort blocked.

The game then settled into a pattern of Llantwit Major patiently building attacks while Cwm soaked up the pressure and retaliated with counters.

A blocked free kick from the edge of the box and a misplaced header saw a relieved Cwm come away quickly and a sharp Ashley Johns through ball saw Ashley Curtis’ steam through only for his fierce shot to be tipped over the bar by the keeper.

With Ross Morgan and the returning Ryan Thomas probing well the key moment came on 30 minutes.

An audacious nutmeg from Hurlow was followed by a precision through ball to Ashley Curtis who calmly chipped the advancing keeper from 30 yards out to make it 1-0.

This stung Major into increasing the pressure but with Johns and Nathan Mcneill really solid at the back Cwm saw it through to half time.

Sean Howells was booked early in the second half following a mid-air collision as Cwm battled to contain their attacks and Calem Rees and Brieg Matthews both playing out of position at full back were in no mood to give an inch.

Rees in particular was prompting attacks and Cwm had a couple of great chances with Curtis blasting over from the edge of the box and Chrissy Allen forcing a great one handed save for what had looked like 2-0.

Cwm rang the changes and brought on new signing Ben Thomas, Rhys Morgan and Cameron Isaac to maintain the energy levels and Llantwit Major continued to press right to the end.

A superb save from Rob Wass Jones right at the end kept Cwm in the game and the Major continued to be wasteful in front of goal.

Next Saturday they are away To Pontypridd Town
