WRU Division 2 West
Tycroes – 23
St Clears – 18
Tycroes were back on home ground to entertain St Clears and were hoping to reverse the result from earlier in the season when they lost by 14-0.
Tycroes started strongly and opened the scoring after only four minutes with centre Elgan Griffiths going over the whitewash. Lee Evans added the extras.
Using their bigger pack the visitors opened their account with a penalty on nine minutes.
Evans added a penalty for the home side shortly after.
Tycroes had several opportunities to add to the score board but stoic defence kept them at bay.
Evans extended the lead on 22 minutes when he intercepted a pass on his own 22 metre line and raced away down field to score in the corner.
St Clears added two scores of their own before half time with centre Jack Howells crossing for a brace, and James Davies added one conversion.
Evans crossed for his second of the game when the home team back line swept past the defenders and put the scrum half in in the corner. Davies cut the deficit to two points with another well struck penalty.
With seconds remaining Evans rubbed salt into the visitors wound by successfully adding a penalty on time.
