WRU Division 2A West Central
Cwmgors – 12
Pyle – 42
A MUCH-changed Cwmgors side suffered defeat at the hands of promotion chasing Pyle as they handed several youngsters their debuts.
The visitors kicked-off the game and were soon into a 14- point lead with two converted tries.
Cwm then settled into the match and a sustained period of pressure saw hooker William Williams throw a dummy before crossing over for a try, converted by Mathew Birt.
The home side were very much in the game at this point, and the youngsters were playing well.
However, 'Gors failed to deal with a speculative kick out of defence by Pyle. The ball was kicked ahead, and Pyle won the race for the touchdown. The conversion made it 21-7.
Despite the setback Cwmgors kept on going and were rewarded when Cerith Gibson, on his debut, crossed over an unconverted try on the stroke of halftime.
Early in the second-half Pyle extended their lead with another converted try.
Lapses in concentration saw Pyle score two further converted tries to make the score 42-12.
Cwm stopped the flow of tries, and were on the attack themselves.
The game was then paused for a long period to deal with a back injury to a Cwmgors player. After the game recommenced there were no further scores despite the efforts of both sides.
