Amman United – 89

Penybanc – 0

AMMAN United continued their fantastic start to the new campaign with a trouncing of local rivals Penybanc.

A much-changed Amman side ran in 13 tries in an extremely on-sided affair that saw them win 89-0.

Centre, Stuart Pratt stood out on his debut, while young wing Jac Evans was the star of the game, scoring a hat trick of tries.

The hosts’ first score came within the first minute, as full back Ceri Jones strode through the defence to score.

Amman were dominating possession and territory and soon had their second try as Callum Davies put debutant Pratt in to score.

The bonus point was secured within the opening hour as Jones crossed for his second try of the game before Evans got the first of his three for the afternoon.

Two more tries would follow before half time, including Evans getting his second, as Amman led their opponents 42-0 heading into the break, with Steff Rees converting all six of the first half scores.

Penybanc came out fighting in the second half, but only offered sporadic threats and were overrun in midfield for the most part.

As a result the tryscoring continued apace as Amman made some lovely patterns of passing.

Steff Davies and Aled Danter both crossed the whitewash to bring up the half centure, before Kevin Simpson added another score not long after.

Even the replacements got in on the action as the match went on.

Rhys Jones was able to find space out wide as tiring Penybanc defenders struggled to stem the tide and he soon bagged two late tries after entering the fray.

Evans completed his hat trick with his third late on, but there was still time for one further score from fellow wing Liam Danter, which came from a counter attack following a rare Penybanc foray into the Amman half.

The hosts ran out comfortable 89-0 winners, a result which means they maintain their 100 per cent record to start the season.

They sit second in the table behind Nantgaredig who have picked up an extra bonus point, while Penybanc remain rooted to the foot of the table without a win or a point.

Amman United welcome South Gower to Cwmamman Park on Saturday for the WRU National Bowl second round tie.
