AMMAN United collected the coveted team award at the Carmarthenshire Sports Personality of the Year awards last week.

Amman were honoured for outstanding triple-winning 2016/17 season.

Penybanc Juniors RFC team manager Marc Jones scooped the Sports Volunteer of the Year at the Carmarthenshire County Council backed awards.

Marc, of Bonllwyn, has been involved with the club for more than six years and currently works with around 100 youngsters across five junior teams.

Llandovery basketball player Oliver Griffith-Salter was crowned Disabled Sportsman of the Year.

It was also a good night for the Scarlets with Wales star Jonathan Davies named Sports Personality of the Year and Wayne Pivac crowned High Performance Coach of the Year.

Winners from across the county were honoured for their achievements at Ffrwnes Theatre on Friday.

The council’s executive board member for culture, sport and tourism, Cllr Peter Hughes Griffiths, said: “This was an excellent evening, celebrating the huge amount of sporting talent.”
