A Pentregwenlais schoolgirl is course to become a future golfing star after being crowned Welsh Mini Masters champion at Celtic Manor.
Nine-year-old Ysgol Gorslas pupil Rhiannon Lewis claimed the crown in her age group at the weekend after previously coming second in the five/six and seven/eight year age groups.
The youngster, who practices at Tycroes, appears to have plenty of natural talent to call on.
“I played for about a year and then had a break,” she said.
“Then I started playing again and have been playing for about two years.
“I like golf because it is a lot of fun.”
Asked how she had become so good, Rhiannon said: “It is because I practise a lot – and I have really good lessons from my coach Leighton.”
And on the future, she said: “I would like to be Wales best ever woman golfer.”
