MACMILLAN CANCER SUPPORT FUNDRAISER - A fundraising day for MacMillan Cancer Support will be held at Tairgwaith this Friday (September 27). Cakes, donated by local cake makers and the public, will be on sale at Tairgwaith Community centre from 2 till 5pm, with coffee, tea and sandwiches, plus entertainment from Jeff (after his great success last year).
GCG Fire Brigade will be present (unless they have a callout) during the day. Between 6 and 8pm, there will be a childrens’ disco (courtesy of Nia Hodgkinson, free of charge), with hot dogs and cakes available also. Then, from 9pm, the event moves up to Tairgwaith Workingmens’ Club, including entertainment from Terry J (entry £3). A raffle will be held all day, drawn in the evening, with numerous donations received from local businesses and individuals. Well over £700 was raised last year, with organisers hoping to break the £1,000 mark this year. Your support for this excellent cause would be greatly appreciated!
BOWLS THANKS - Cwmaman Bowls Club captain John Sam Jones and his team wishes to show their appreciation to their counterparts at Gwaun cae Gurwen Bowls Club for stepping in and making up the numbers when they were short and in need of players during the season just ended. Diolch, bois!
POOL AGM - The Cwm Waun Pool League’s AGM will be held at Tairgwaith Workingmens’ Club on Thursday, September 26 at 7.30pm. New teams welcomed; WPA affiliated.
SUNDAY SHOWS - Don’t forget Cwmgors Rugby Club has a live band performing every Sunday afternoon between 6 and 8pm.
CWMGORS RFC will be up against Betws in a local-derby at Parc y Werin this Saturday (September 28).
GWAUN CAE GURWEN PENSIONERS - GCG Pensioners’ Group will be entertained by the returning Swansea Amateurs at their next meeting next Wednesday(October 2).
TJ'S TAVERN MACMILLAN COFFEE DAY - The event held at TJ's Tavern, Cwmgors will start at 2pm with a table top sale and bonanza raffle, tea and coffee plus cakes will be on sale. At 9pm enjoy live music with Kris. Entry is free. All proceeds go to Macmillan Cancer Care.
