BUS passengers are fuming after First Cymru stopped service 103 running from Ammanford to Llandeilo – a move they say isolates Ffairfach from Llandeilo for four hours in the day.
Protestors say elderly residents and those without transport who cannot access doctors and other medical services, along with shops and post offices have been particularly hard hit.
Dyffryn Cennen community councillor Ronnie Williams said: “Ffairfach residents want to know how the isolation of their village can be classed as ‘an improvement’ by First Cymru.
“It’s causing real hardship for a lot of the older residents who feel cut off. “
First Cymru’s Owen Williams said: “Changes affecting the concessionary fare reimbursement rates, and the reduction in bus service operators grant by the Welsh Government, mean that those routes that used to be commercially sustainable no longer are.”
