BACK in October 2012 we reported what was initially thought to be a neolithic stone row on Betws Mountain was probably just a relatively modern grazing boundary or route waymarker.

At least that was the conclusion of experts from Cadw after inspecting the find.

But now the goal-posts – sorry, waymarkers – appear to have been moved because a senior Cadw inspector has conceded their initial identification may have been somewhat hasty.

This begs the question: if those stones aren’t grazing boundaries or waymarkers, what the heck are they?

IT TAKES a lot to annoy bus passengers – they are, by nature, a hardy bunch accustomed to waiting patiently in the wind and rain.

But people who regularly use Service 103 from Ammanford to Llandeilo are clearly furious that the service has been reduced – a decision which effectively isolates Ffairfach from Llandeilo for four hours each day.

The service is a lifeline for pensioners and those without transport – but First insist the service in no longer commercially sustainable.

The old adage ‘use it or lose it’ has never been more valid – if Carmarthenshire County Council can perhaps persuade First to restore the full service, people obviously need to support it.
