A WOMAN had been dead for three days before she was found by a friend, an inquest heard

Joanna Flynn, from Witham was found unresponsive on her bed on May 26.

An inquest into her death was held in the presence of her family at Chelmsford Coroners Court.

A friend, who had a key to the home became concerned after not being able to contact Joanna for several days.

She went to Joanna’s home where she found her friend unresponsive on her bed.

Police arrived at the scene, where paramedics pronounced Joanna dead shortly after.

The court heard that Joanna was known to have a history of a number of health issues including Crohn's Disease, Ulcerative Colitis, Anxiety and Insomnia.

At the time of her death she was on 21 different medications.

Joanna had been dead for three days before she was found which made it difficult for post mortem and toxicology reports to determine a definite cause of death.

The inquest was adjourned and is set to continue today in Chelmsford.
