A healthy sized crowd saw Ammanford beat Mumbles Rangers 3-2 in their third pre-season friendly of the summer.

Both teams held a minute silence before kick off to pay their respects to Jeff Matthews’ family and friends on the recent passing of his father Andrew.

Jeff is well known in local football circles in the Amman Valley and was part of the successful management team that guided Mumbles Rangers to promotion to the Welsh League for the first time in their history.

Mumbles having been newly promoted to the Ardal South West League this coming season.

The game got off to a slow start with both teams getting up to the speed of the game but as the half wore on Mumbles looked the more threatening side, having the best chances.

They were unlucky not to take the lead with a shot that narrowly passed the left hand post of Joe Massoro's goal.

Mumbles did take the lead after 30 minutes with a well taken from a well-directed Elliot Smith header which nestled into the left hand corner of the goal, this coming seconds after they had hit the woodwork with a rasping drive from Club Captain Chrissy Allen.
