AMMANFORD AFC's Tristan Jenkins now leads the Cymru South scoring charts after his 17th goal for the season earned his side a 1-1 draw at Trefelin BGC.

The point keeps Ammanford 11th in the table going into the Christmas week, ahead of their festive showdown against sixth-placed Carmarthen Town on December 27.

The two sides meet again on New Year's Day, and Ammanford will be keen to build some momentum in 2022, with their aim being to push up into the top end of the table.

Jenkins had given Ammanford the perfect start at Ynys Park when he opened the scoring from Lee Trundle's assist with barely a minute on the clock.

Trefelin responded positively and a good period of pressure was rewarded when Darren Thomas netted their equaliser with 25 minutes gone.

It was still all square at the interval, and there was little to choose between the sides in a tightly contested second half as the honours ended even.

In-form Carmarthen Town meanwhile notched a solid 4-0 win win over Afan Lido at Richmond Park, with all the goals coming in the second half.

Two goals from Adam John put them on track for their ninth league win of the season, before he unselfishly set up Liam Thomas for the third goal.

Noah Daley netted the fourth goal to leave the Old Gold in confident mood ahead of their trip to face Ammanford.
