AMMANFORD Youth travelled away to face their very first encounter against Llantwit Major that turned out to be a real battle.

Ammanford started off on fire and showed their intentions when the inform Nico Sofiu hit the goal from a free kick only to be saved. Cai Rees then hit the cross bar before being set-up a couple of minutes later by Nico, but this time Cai made no mistake.

The visitors continued to press and were on top, but a breakaway from the home side saw them go the length of the field and equalise.

Ammanford pressed again and it was a clever assist for Harry G who found Osian Davies, who then belted it away to go 2-1 up.

Within minutes Llantwit pulled back to 2-2 with some neat play of their own.

Still on top, Lewis Trotman broke clean through only to be taken down by the defender who saw a red card flash in front of his eyes. All square at half-time.

Ammanford came out of the blocks quicker and Cai broke and wrong footed the keeper only to be chopped down with Llant's second red being shown. Awarded a free-kick, it was Osian who stood up and belted it home to go 3-2 up.

On the 60th minute it was Ammanford who saw red when Harry G took down the defender and was deemed as last man so he was sent for an early shower.

Still with one man up Cai hit the cross bar again and a few chances were spoilt before the hosts made it 3-3 with 10 minutes left.

Ammanford were not done and the attacking minded side pushed forward and were awarded a penalty where Nico stood up and put to the keepers right.

Then came the goal of the match from an assist from Cian Williams who put the ball on a plate for Osian who rifled it home for the goal of the match. At 5-3 up the ref indicates seven minutes extra time and the Llant lads were not done. The team pushed everyone forward and had their reward with a cracking goal making it 5-4.

Llant came straight back up the field and were awarded a free-kick. This was heading into the corner but for a magical save from man of the match Ethan Morgan.

With the game wide open the final straw went to Ammanford when they were awarded another penalty and this time Nico putting it to the left and making it 6-4. A great advert to the game and huge effort from the travelling Ammanford youth. Ammanford now sit joint top of the league.
