Seven Sisters 0-1 Cwmaman United Welsh League Division 3

CWMAMAN can rightly claim to be one of the form teams of the Welsh League as the season enters its final furlong. Jason Cousins went closest for Cwm in a scoreless opening half in this midweek league encounter.

However, United were a different proposition in the second half and dominated throughout. The all important only goal arrived with 15 minutes remaining, Johnny Jones' shot deflected in by Alex Protheroe for his first for the club. One was enough in the end but Cwmaman should have won more comfortably.

Cwmaman United 2-1 Treowen Stars Welsh League Division 3

CWMAMAN notched their second victory in a matter of days to virtually maintain their Welsh League status for another season.

In form Cwm had to do it the hard way though, trailing to a 20th minute Treowen strike and had the visitors taken their chances, it could have been 'goodnight Vienna' for United.

The game's turning point came when a superb David Looney save and Graham Bevan's well timed tackle averted a certain Treowen goal and immediately at the other end, Cwm broke away to equalise with a Jason Cousins cracker.

Cwmaman again upped the tempo in the second half, Rhydian Watkins on his first team full debut doing well, hitting a post with a fine effort. Gareth Elliott again impressed also, with David Looney in top form between the sticks.

Cwmaman sealed their well earned three points, making it six for the week, with a 75th minute winner, an excellent shot from outside the box from Alex Protheroe finding the top corner.

Cwmaman were to play Risca on Tuesday (April 29), followed by their next league match at home against Troedyrhiw on Wednesday, May 7, before travelling to Pontyclun on Saturday, May 10.
