Llandovery cup news

LLANDOVERY will be as keen as ever to retain the Tovali Challenge Cup when they take on Llangennech at Stradey Park on Tuesday, May 13 (ko 7pm).

It will be back-to-back successes for the Drovers, who lifted last year's trophy following a convincing 34-10 over Carmarthen Quins, if they turn over a Llangennech side making their first ever appearance in the final.

"We're all looking forward to what promises to be a good final. Both teams can play attractive, attacking rugby and I'm sure that this will be the case," said Llandovery chairman Gareth Jones.

The second string, meanwhile, were forced to pull out all the stops to overcome South Gower 45-19 at Church Bank. The cup finalists eventually recorded half a dozen tries with two by flanker Ken Hughes and others by scrum-half Adrian Davies, fly-half Arwel Davies, centre Aled Davies and prop Rhys Richards.
