Lloyds TSB National League Div1 (West)
LLANDOVERY completed the double over a plucky but outclassed Treorchy side at the Rhondda Oval.
For the second time in the season the Drovers ran in ten tries against the Zebras and have now notched up a total of 35 tries in their last four league games.
The Towy Valley side were well served by their forwards who provided a stream of good ball for the backs. Centre Tal Selley was certainly one to benefit from their work as the top try scorer added to his total with a hat-trick of tries. He saved the best for last, a brilliant individual effort where he ran through the entire Treorchy side to touch down under the posts.
The game was only a minute old when the Drovers opened their account with outside-half Gareth Jones converting a simple penalty.
Tries then came at regular intervals with Jamie Cudmore, Herman Bosman, Aled Davies, Steve Phillips and Selley all touching down. Gareth Jones converted three to give the Drovers a commanding 34-0 interval lead.
With his team holding such a lead, coach Iestyn Thomas gave opportunities to all of the squad players. However, the pace and drive of the team never faltered and with the replacements all fitting into the pattern of play, a further five tries were scored in the second half.
Tal Selley completed his hat-trick, full-back Ioan Davies went over for two whilst former Treorchy player Gary Beaumont-Morgan completed the scoring. Gareth Jones converted one of the tries and Ioan Davies added the extra points for two more, as the Drovers passed the 1,000 points mark for the season.
