Carmarthenshire County Council has declared its Hwb Bach y Wlad scheme a success.
Launched on September 18, 2023, the project has supported more than 8,000 customers and seen at least 250 community visits throughout the county within its first year.
The initiative acts as an extension of the three main Hwb centres, bringing essential county council services directly to rural communities.
These services include housing benefits, council tax assistance, waste and recycling information, housing-related inquiries, trading standards support, and employability resources.
The project has also helped people understand and access their financial and well-being entitlements through its "Claim What’s Yours" programme.
In addition, the team has provided emergency food parcels, organised transport for medical appointments, and offered assistance during mental health crises and housing insecurity.
Cllr Linda Evans, deputy leader and cabinet member for homes, said: "Hwb Bach y Wlad has been a lifeline for so many of our rural residents, providing essential services and support that they may otherwise have struggled to access.
"The success of the project in its first year is a testament to the dedication of the team and our partners."
The project’s success has been attributed to its collaboration with local and national partners, enabling the provision of a comprehensive care package to those in need.
One customer shared: "Hwb Bach y Wlad changed my life when I didn’t know where to turn.
"They helped me access benefits I wasn’t aware of, and the support was truly life-saving."
