A NEW store has been opened in Pontarddulais.

The Co-op has opened a convenience store on St Teilo Street, Pontarddulais which will serve and support the community.

The 2,500 square foot store opened on Friday, January 19, and provided 15 local jobs.

The store has an in-store bakery, hot food and Costa Coffee express, fresh and healthy products, meal ideas, everyday essentials, food-to-go, chilled beers and award-winning wines as well as ready meals, pizzas and a range of free-from, vegan and plant-based products.

There is also a parcel collection service as the shop has InPost Lockers and the community can recycle ‘soft plastics’ in-store which includes crisp packets, bread bags, lids from ready meals and yogurt pots, biscuit wrappers and pet food pouches. This means that all Co-op’s own food packaging is recyclable either through the local authority’s kerbside collections or through the in-store soft plastic recycling point.

Stacey Jones, manager of the new store, said: “The whole team is delighted to launch Co-op’s newest store – we’ve had a great response.

“Opening the store took a little longer than we planned, but now we are really enjoying welcoming the community into their new Co-op. Our aim is to operate at the heart of local life, and we’ve worked to develop the range, choice and added services to create a compelling offer to serve and support our community, conveniently.

“This includes a focus on delivering member-value so that the people who own our business, Co-op’s member-owners, benefit every time they shop.”

The Co-op store on St Teilo Street, Pontarddulais, is open between 7am and 10pm, Monday to Sunday.
