Search the Public Notice PortalCARMARTHENSHIRE County Council recently refused three planning applications in the Gwendraeth Valley and Pontarddulais areas.
The applications were refused for a number of reasons including insufficient information, the design of the planned new builds and concerns over the conservation of bats.
Heol Stanllyd, Cross Hands
Plans for a self-storage yard on Heol Stanllyd in Cross Hands were refused by Carmarthenshire County Council on July 13.
The application was submitted by Stephen Aitken and would have seen a proposed self-storage yard on the 374square metre site which is currently vacant.
It was refused for two reasons. The first was that the council did not consider the proposals to comply with three different policies in the local development plan because the applicant had not provided sufficient information to demonstrate how the proposed development would provide a net benefit for biodiversity.
The second reason was that the council thought the proposals did not comply with a further three policies of the LDP as the applicant did not provide sufficient information to justify the selection of the site and that the proposed use would not be detrimental to the respective character and appearance of the townscape/landscape.
Paradise Cottages, Llwynhendy
Plans to remove garages and the creation of two-storey side extension and rear extension and new garage at a property on Paradise Cottages, Llwynhendy, has been refused by Carmarthenshire County Council.
On July 6, the council decided that the plans, submitted by Steffan Milello, would be out of character.
The council stated: “The proposal, by virtue of its siting, scale, size, design and appearance, would be visually obtrusive and generally out of character with the host property. The proposal would not be subordinate or compatible to the size, type and character of the host property and would unbalance the pair of semi-detached properties, to the detriment of visual amenities and contrary to Policies SP1, GP1 and GP6 of the Carmarthenshire Local Development Plan (adopted December 2014).”
Heol y Plas, Fforest
Plans to build a two-storey side extension and a two-storey rear extension on a property at Heol y Plas, Fforest, were refused by Carmarthenshire County Council on July 7.
The plans, submitted by Adam Griffiths, were contrary to the biodiversity policy of the Carmarthenshire Local Development Plan as there was insufficient information provided to be able to adequately assess the impact of the proposal on the conservation of bats.
