STAFF at Carmarthenshire Jobcentres have been supporting individuals in getting into work this spring, as well as helping businesses find suitable candidates for their vacant roles.
Ammanford Jobcentre has been supporting Falconer Removals & Storage with their search for a part time telephone receptionist, as well as Coaltown Coffee Roasters in their search for a part time barista and Eco Roof Solutions in their search for two full time labourers.
This is part of Carmarthenshire Jobcentres’ focus on increasing the labour force through linking up with employers, holding regular job fairs and pre-employment training.
Figures from the UK Government show that there has been a five per cent reduction in the number of people on benefits across the county when compared to this time last year.
The three Jobcentres – Ammanford, Carmarthen and Llanelli – have work coaches who provide every jobseeker with individual support to help build confidence and develop new skills.
They are encouraging people – whether single parents, young, 50 plus or with health conditions – to connect with the Jobcentres to find a job or progress their career.
Elsewhere in the county, the Llanelli Jobcentre has been hosting Apollo Teaching every week to meet those interested in careers in teaching and teaching assistant roles.
Prospero Teaching has also held recruitment days in both the Carmarthen and Llanelli Jobcentres, holding interviews, registering potential candidates and helping match candidates to the latest education positions they had within local schools.
Carmarthen Jobcentre has been supporting Carmarthen Deli Caerfyrddin by Albert Rees, Butcher Shop Deli, to recruit a full time butcher and Harvester and Toby Carvery restaurants who are looking for part time waiting staff.
Llanelli Jobcentre has been supporting Bouygues Construction Group to hire a site receptionist/administrator at the Pentre Awel build in Llanelli.
The Legacy in the Community Project has been expanded into Carmarthenshire and is working with all three of the Jobcentres to offer support and training to people who live with disabilities and long-term health conditions. People wanting to learn more about the project can contact their local Jobcentre.
The Carmarthenshire DWP Employment and Partnership team has been working closely with Carmarthenshire County Council to plan job fairs and events throughout the county.
In the summer months, there will be a range of events focusing on the hospitality and tourism sectors.

The Minister for Employment, Guy Opperman MP said: “We’re continuing to see progress in the labour market as we take action across government to grow the economy. Employment is up; economic inactivity is down; and vacancies have fallen in successive quarters.
“As well as helping deliver on our priority to grow the economy, we know that being in work remains the best way for people to get on in life.
"That’s why I’m focused on matching jobseekers with roles, and businesses with a resilient and skilled workforce.
"Through partnerships with local employers, we have thousands of placements in sectors such as banking and engineering, helping people to achieve new qualifications and build rewarding careers."
