A GWENDRAETH Valley man used a car as a taxi without a licence.
Douglas Glyndwr Thomas, 73, of Carmarthen Road, Cross Hands, admitted two charges of using a car as a private hire without a proper licence at Llanelli Magistrates Court on May 19.
The first charge states that on October 22, 2022, at Carmarthenshire, he was the proprietor of a private hire vehicle, namely a Vauxhall Vivaro, and he knowingly used it as a private hire vehicle in a controlled district without having a current licence under section 48 of the Local Government Act 1976.
He also had a second charge of knowingly driving a private hire vehicle – the same car – in a controlled district without having a current licence under section 48 of the Local Government Act 1976.
He was fined £120 for each of the charges, and was ordered to pay £96 surcharge and £200 costs.
