A number of people have appeared in court recently for offences committed in the Ystradgynlais area.

Jeremy David Bull, 31, of Heol Gleien, Lower Cwmtwrch, admitted drug driving at Merthyr Tydfil Magistrates Court on July 25.

He was caught on the A4067 Brecon Road in Ystradgynlais on January 19 where he was found to have 24 microgrammes of cocaine in his blood. He was fined £400 and banned from driving for a year. He also had to pay £40 surcharge and £85 costs.

He was given no separate penalty for 800 microgrammes of Benzoylecgonine, a derivative of cocaine, in his blood.

Adrian Francis Clarke, 35, of Scwd yr Afon, Aberdulais, admitted drug driving at Merthyr Tydfil Magistrates Court on July 29.

He was caught on February 26 on Neath Road, Ystradgynlais with 65 microgrammes of cocaine in his blood.

He was banned from driving for 18 months and given a community order where he is to complete six months of drug rehabilitation and 80 hours of unpaid work. He also had to pay £95 surcharge and £85 costs.

He received no separate penalty for the charge of having 800 microgrammes of Benzoylecgonine in his blood.

Gaynor Davies, 65, of Maespica Road, Lower Cwmtwrch, admitted drink driving at Merthyr Tydfil Magistrates Court on July 25.

She was caught on July 9 with 102 microgrammes of alcohol per 100millilitres of breath.

She was banned from driving for 25 months and must carry out 80 hours unpaid work. She also had to pay £114 surcharge and £185 costs.

John Paul Rafferty, 54, of Lynden, Lower Cwmtwrch, was given a suspended prison sentence after admitting attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child.

Between June 8, 2021, and October 31, 2021, Rafferty had engaged in communication with a child under the age of 16, including sending a pornographic video to her and offering to send a sexually explicit photo as well as asking for sexually explicit photos from the child.

He was given 26 weeks in prison suspended for two years and must comply with supervision order. He also had to pay £250 fine, £128 surcharge and £85 costs.

Kieron John Morris, 33, of Clifton Crescent, Aberdare, admitted driving a vehicle with the ply cord of a tyre exposed at Llanelli Magistrates Court on July 25.

The offence was committed on March 4 where he was seen on A4221, Abercrave in Ystradgynlais with the ply cord exposed on the front nearside tyre. He was fined £206 and given three points on his licence. He also had to pay £34 surcharge and £90 costs.
