Ammanford’s Margaret Street Dental Practice will be filing away its drills for the final time next month following its permanent closure on July 31.

In a statement issued today (Friday), health board officials confirmed they are currently working closely with {My} Dentist to provide patients with information about their ongoing dental care and the options which will be available for them until new service providers are found.

Patients are being assured that all treatments will be completed by July 31 as well as any urgent cases.

“We appreciate the impact this is going to have on the local population but we’re working hard to find a long-term solution to ensure ongoing NHS dental services in the town,” said Jill Paterson, director of primary care for Hywel Dda University Health Board.

“We’d like to thank all our patients for the support they’ve given the practice over the years.”

If anyone has any queries with regards to their appointments, they are asked to contact the practice.

Following the practice closure, patients who are experiencing dental pain should contact 111 to access an urgent access appointment which is available 7 days a week.

For information on how you can access NHS dental care at another practice, please visit https://hduhb.nhs.wales/healthcare/services-and-teams/dental/ website or contact the Dental Services Team on 0300 303 8322.

Patients who are NHS and affiliated to the Margaret Street Dental Practice are being asked to refrain from contacting alternative practices in the area at this time.

Alternatively, they can contact the health board by emailing HDHB.Dental.hdd@wales.nhs.uk or by telephoning 0300 303 8322 to be put on a holding list for the new practice once the service is in place.
