FIVE drivers from the Amman and Swansea Valley areas have recently appeared in court.

Four of them appeared on charges of speeding – breaking limits ranging from 20mph to 70mph. The fifth appeared on a charge of failing to provide information relating to the identity of a driver believed to be involved in an offence.

Stefanov Marian Pashev, 23, of Park Street, Lower Brynamman, was found guilty of speeding by Cardiff Magistrates Court on May 10.

He was caught on November 6 doing 39mph on Mynydd Newydd Road where the limit is 30mph. He was fined £220 and given three points on his licence. He also had to pay £34 surcharge and £90 costs.

Gareth Cole, 60, of Tyn y Cae, Alltwen, Pontardawe, admitted speeding at Cardiff Magistrates Court on May 9.

He was caught on February 16 doing 35mph on Birchgrove Road where the limit is 20mph. He was fined £233 and given four points on his licence. He also had to pay £34 surcharge and £90 costs.

Neil Harris, 66, of Dol y Dderwen, Ammanford, admitted speeding at Llanelli Magistrates Court on May 16.

He was caught on March 19 doing 97mph on Overpass A48 near Pensarn where the limit is 70mph. He was fined £80 and given five points on his licence. He also had to pay £34 surcharge and £90 costs.

Michael Downing, 42, of Walter Road, Ammanford, admitted speeding at Bodmin Magistrates Court on May 9.

He was caught on October 9 exceeding the 70mph limit on the M5 at Poltimore. He was fined £769 and given six points on his licence. He also had to pay £76 surcharge and £90 costs.

Rachael Duffill, 36, of Blaenau Road, Llandybie, was found guilty of failing to provide information by Llanelli Magistrates Court on May 12.

She committed the offence by failing to provide information relating to the identity of the driver of a vehicle believed to have committed an offence to Dyfed Powys Police on January 6. She was fined £660 and given six points on her licence. She also had to pay £66 surcharge and £90 costs.
