Local mums-to-be will soon be offered a highly specialist maternity service aimed at guiding them through each stage of the exciting maternity process.

The service is to be run by highly-skilled midwife Rebecca Hall.

“Having worked as a midwife for the past three and a half years, I’m looking forward to developing this role so that we can create a very positive birthing environment for mothers throughout south west Wales,” she said.

Rebecca will be engaging with mothers before, during and after the birth and will cover maternity users throughout the three counties of Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion and Pembrokeshire.

Her post will be primarily based at Glangwili Hospital however Rebecca will also be visiting the antenatal clinics at Bronglais and Withybush.

She will guide mothers through their birthing experience via social media discussions, group meetings and also through each mother’s respective midwife.

“The aim is to work closely in partnership with all our maternity users and find out about each of their individual experiences,” she added.

Meanwhile Kathryn Greaves, the head of midwifery and women’s services, stressed the importance of the role which Rebecca will be providing.

“Having a dedicated and specialist midwife who can engage with women, birthing people and their families is pivotal to any maternity service," she said.

“Rebecca’s role will encourage and create a community hub that will bring together women and birthing people seeking the services at Hywel Dda and the teams supporting women throughout pregnancy, birth and beyond.

“Everyone needs a Rebecca, and we're just so lucky she choose to work at Hywel Dda.”
