Former Ysgol Dyffryn Amman pupil Josh Griffiths achieved the World Championship standard time at the Seville Marathon last weekend.
He finished in a remarkable 2 hours 11 minutes and 28 seconds, and in doing so he also reduced his personal best by 1 minute 47 seconds.
It makes the 28 year-old the fourth fastest Welsh marathoner ever.
“The race couldn’t have gone much better today,” said Josh after the race. An amazing course and field helped me run the time I knew I could.”
In 2017, he made his marathon debut where he finished as the fastest Briton at the London Marathon in a time of 2:14:49
This allowed him to qualify for the World Championships and represent Wales at the Commonwealth Games in 2018.
