A FESTIVE fair raising money for a three-year-old Brynaman boy with a rare form of cancer has been described as a “Christmas miracle” by his family.

The Amman Valley Christmas Experience, which includes fairground rides, Santa’s grotto and skating rink, opened to the public last weekend.

Billed as the Amman Valley’s biggest winter fair, the Christmas experience, on Station Road, offers plenty of fun for a full day out, with lots for the adults too with a food court and undercover drinks bar.

All proceeds from the fair will be going to Joseph Yeandle, from Brynaman, who is currently fighting a rare form of cancer.

Joseph was diagnosed in April with stage 4 neuroblastoma with just a 50 per cent chance of survival.

Since Joseph's diagnosis his family have been desperately fundraising to get Joseph lifesaving treatment abroad, which could cost hundreds of thousands of pounds.

Joseph’s mother Katy said: “The community spirit to help us raise the funds has been overwhelming, and it’s because of a local community fundraiser that a kind and generous business woman, Margaret Studt, became aware of Joseph’s campaign.

“Margaret has created a magical Christmas Experience within the village to help us raise the funds that we need, but also help us raise the profile of the campaign.

“Raising money whilst Joseph is going through this treatment has been extremely difficult on the entire family, however, the support that we have received from the community has helped us so much, and now that Margaret is also helping us raise funds, we feel like a weight has been lifted in relation to the fundraising and we can finally start to sleep at night.

“It is a Christmas miracle that will go towards helping Joseph get cancer treatment abroad.”

A large group of volunteers from the community have generously offered their support to help staff the event so that more funds can be dedicated to Joseph’s campaign.

The Amman Valley Christmas Experience opened for a soft launch last weekend. The fair will open every day from Friday, December 3 to January 2.
