THE Amman Valley Christmas Experience opens to the public this weekend.

The fair will open on Friday, November 26 at Studt's Fairground in Brynamman.

Fairground rides, skating rink, princess forest and Santa’s grotto, will be among the attractions at the Christmas fair.

Billed as the Amman Valley’s biggest winter fair, the Christmas experience, on Station Road, will offer plenty of fun for a full day out, with lots for the adults too with a food court and undercover drinks bar.

All proceeds from the fair will be going to Joseph Yeandle, the three-year-old from Brynaman, who is currently fighting a rare form of cancer.

Joseph was diagnosed in April with stage 4 neuroblastoma with just a 50 per cent chance of survival.

Since Joseph's diagnosis his family have been desperately fundraising to get Joseph lifesaving treatment abroad, which could cost hundreds of thousands of pounds.

Joseph’s mother Katy said: “The community spirit to help us raise the funds has been overwhelming, and it’s because of a local community fundraiser that a kind and generous business woman, Margaret Studt, became aware of Joseph’s campaign.

“Margret has created a magical Christmas Experience within the village to help us raise the funds that we need, but also help us raise the profile of the campaign.

“Raising money whilst Joseph is going through this treatment has been extremely difficult on the entire family, however, the support that we have received from the community has helped us so much, and now that Margaret is also helping us raise funds, we feel like a weight has been lifted in relation to the fundraising and we can finally start to sleep at night.”

A large group of volunteers from the community have generously offered their support to help staff the event so that more funds can be dedicated to Joseph’s campaign.

The Amman Valley Christmas Experience will be open to the public for a soft launch from Friday, November 26 until Sunday, November 28, from noon until 10pm. The fair will then be open every day from Friday, December 3 to January 2.
