Plans for a new hot food takeaway in Ammanford have been submitted to council planners.

A planning application and listed building consent was lodged with Carmarthenshire Council, proposing a takeaway at the rear of the Post Office on Quay Street.

This included a change of use of a rear ground floor general storage area to a hot food takeaway.

The plans state that the applicant is seeking to form a “separate commercial unit”, which has no internal connection into the Post Office from Quay Street.

According to the application, the current floorspace has deteriorated and worn as a result of under-use.

A heritage impact statement within the plans state that the applicant seeks to repair and retain all existing features of the Grade II listed building.

The plans say the aim is to create self-supporting independent takeaway at the rear of the building, opening out onto Hall Street, and accessed via the rear public car park. Opening hours would be 11am to 11pm Monday to Saturday and 11am to 10pm on Sunday and Bank Holidays.

It says one full time position and two part-time positions could be created.

The plans will soon be discussed by Carmarthenshire Council's planning committee.
