MEMBERS of Caerbryn football club have raised funds for life-saving equipment as well as honouring a former chairman who died last year.

Les Thomas, who was life vice chairman at Caerbryn AFC, died suddenly just before Christmas.

Darren Dowley from the club organised a target for members and supporters to walk and run the distance of Wales’ coastal path, some 870 miles. In fact they achieved over 2,300 miles, three times their initial target.

The money was used to purchase a defibrillator at the club and was unveiled recently by Les’ widow Caroline Thomas, along with Jonathan Edwards MP and Rachel Field, who took part in the fundraiser.

Mr Edwards who attended the unveiling with County Councillor Dai Thomas, said: “Les was one of my closest friends, who helped me a lot over the years. His death was a heart breaking tragedy.

"I hope that this defibrillator will save lives in memory of this wonderful local hero. Thank you Caerbryn.”
