AN AMMANFORD man has been sent to prison after he was caught trespassing on a railway line and was found to be in possession of a quantity of drugs.

Jason Malcolm Owen, of Carregamman Isaf, Ammanford, had trespassed on the railway line, belonging to Network Rail at Llandrindod Wells on July 10.

The 41-year-old was also found to be in possession of a quantity of class A drug diamorphine, class B drug cannabis and class C drug Valium.

He was charged and released on bail and was due to appear at Llandrindod Wells Magistrates’ Court on August 4, but failed to turn up for the hearing and an arrest warrant was issued.

The warrant was withdrawn when Owen appeared for the hearing at Llanelli Magistrates’ Court later that day.

He pleaded guilty to trespassing upon the lines of a railway company, namely Network Rail, three counts of drugs possession and failing without reasonable cause to surrender to custody at Llandrindod Wells Magistrates' Court.

Taking his guilty plea into account the bench sentenced him to prison for 16 weeks concurrent.

He was also ordered to pay a £128 surcharge and £85 costs to the Crown Prosecution Service.

Magistrates ordered the drugs to be forfeited and destroyed.
