Opening batsman Evans smashed 10 fours and 3 big sixes to help his side post a total of 287 for 4, before the home team were bowled all out for 249 in the 48th over.

After winning the toss and electing to bat, Evans lost opening partner Iestyn Davies for 9, but a 129-run stand followed for the second wicket with Oliver Thomas Taylor-Jones.

Taylor-Jones struck 9 boundaries in his fine knock of 65, before he was caught out, but Craig Evans came in and he played his part in another decent stand of 78 runs.

With the score on 252, Rhodri Evans, having scored 111 runs, was finally stumped out, before Craig Evans was bowled for 36, in a knock that included 4 fours and a six.

Daniel Griffiths hit two sixes and a four in his 26 not out, before the 50 overs ran out - with Sion Nicholas the pick of the Llanwrda bowlers with 2 for 36 off seven overs.

In reply, the home batsmen lost both openers cheaply, with Adrian Davies being bowled by Craig Evans for 6, and William Thurtle run out by Dafydd Davies for nought.

Cerith Rees hit 2 fours, before being caught for 19, and James Morgan also struck 2 boundaries before also being caught for 16 as the home side tried to increase the pace.

The middle order duly rallied, with Osian Nicholas hitting 8 fours in his knock of 44, supported by Garan Williams who top scored with 65, with 7 fours and 4 big sixes.

Further contributions from Berian Williams, who made 54, with 8 fours, and Sion Nicholas who made 30, with 5 fours, made a game of it, but they finished 38 runs short.

Craig Evans took 2 wickets for 19 from his 8.5 overs, which included 5 maidens, and Daniel Griffiths had 3 maidens as he returned 1 for 39 from his 9 overs.

With Dafydd Davies taking 3 for 47 from 10 overs, and Rhodri Evans 2 for 56 from 10 overs, Pontyberem did enough to take the win, which sees them second in the table.

Meanwhile Pontyberem Seconds were all out for just 83 runs as they slipped to a four-wicket defeat in division eight at Dafen Welfare Thirds at The Park.

After being invited to bat first, only Kendal Jones (19), Sion Nicholas (12) and Owain Baglin (18) made it into double figures, with Niamh Mansel returning 4 for 16.

In reply, Chris Davies made 15, and Deniol Edwards 17, to help Dafen reach 84 for 6 in the 26th over, despite the efforts of Owain Baglin (2 for 22) and Kendal Jones (2 for 18).
