PRIME Cymru has received the Trusted Charity Mark award, which recognises the excellent work it carries out as a third sector organisation in Wales.

The mark is awarded by the National Council for Voluntary Organisations (NCVO) and is the only UK quality standard designed to help third sector organisations operate more effectively and efficiently.

Prime Cymru, based in Llandovery, was assessed against the 11 standards of effective practice in Trusted Charity and proved to meet all standards, including leadership and management, managing staff and volunteers, handling money and governance.

The Welsh charity was founded by HRH The Prince of Wales in 2001, in response to the many letters he received from the over 50s, who were having extreme difficulty securing work because of their age. Since then, the charity has gone from strength to strength, offering bespoke support to anyone aged 25 and over in Wales who is out of work or under threat of redundancy.

Chief Executive, David Pugh, said: “I am absolutely delighted that our charity has been awarded the Trusted Charity Mark. Securing this mark of quality assurance sets a clear statement that our service has been externally audited and found to be of an extremely high standard within the charity sector.

"This has only been possible through all of the hard work of our highly committed staff, volunteers and trustees, and it is great to celebrate this award during our 20th anniversary year!”

Nick Snow, NCVO Trusted Charity Programme Manager, said: “We are delighted for the trustees, staff and volunteers of PRIME Cymru that they have achieved the Trusted Charity Mark.

"We know that organisations using the Trusted Charity standard benefit by having better systems, procedures and governance and better quality of services for their users.”
