Two boys remain in custody for questioning over the alleged murder of Reece Tansey, police said.

Police confirmed yesterday that a 14 and 15-year-old had been arrested on suspicion of murder for the fatal stabbing of Reece, 15, in the early hours of May 4.

Emergecy services were called shortly after 4.43am on Tuesday after Reece sought the help of Walker Avenue residents by knocking on house doors.

He was taken to hospital but died of his injuries.

Police say the two arrested teenagers remain in custody for questioning.

GMP's Major Incident Team are currently treating this as a targeted incident.

Nicola McCulloch, of GMP's Major Investigation Team, said: "Our thoughts are with Reece's family and friends at this absolutely horrendous time and our specialist officers are working closely to support them.

"This is a shocking incident in which the life of a young boy has been taken and we are doing all we can to bring the offenders to justice. I would like to reassure the public that we have an increased police presence in the area, which will remain through this week.

"I would urge anyone with information about this incident to speak to us as soon as possible."
