Images of people in Llandeilo who stood on their doorsteps to clap for carers are set to go on display in the town's refurbished Shire Hall.

County Councillor Edward Thomas commissioned the pictures which were taken by amateur photographer Mark Revitt.

The Clap for Carers event ran every Thursday night at 8pm for 10 weeks and saw the nation stand on their doorsteps celebrating our incredible frontline workers.

Across the country people made as much noise as they could clapping, banging pots and pans and ringing bells in a show of appreciation to the nation's heroes.

Cllr Thomas said: "Local photographer Mark Revitt takes lots of photos in Llandeilo capturing the areas history and events. Last year he took a series of photos around the streets of Llandeilo of friends and neighbours out clapping for the NHS.

"I have commissioned these photos and had them framed by Mark, which I hope to display in the newly refurbished Shire Hall, on Carmarthen Street, as a permanent record of the spirit of those dark times."

The Shire Hall is the third oldest building in Llandeilo and dates back to 1803. Over the centuries it has been used as a corn exchange, magistrates’ courts, and more recently as offices for Dyfed Archaeological Trust and Llandeilo Town Council.

Restoration works are currently underway at the hall which will provide a new centre for support services, pop-up units for local businesses, a meeting/consultation room and a tourist destination hub.
