WITH the easing of restrictions, Llandeilo fire station used the opportunity to present prizes to the winners of a competition that took place last year.
Back in December local schoolchildren were given the opportunity to enter a painting competition with the winning design featuring on the station’s greetings banner.
The competition was organised by crew manager Carl Lewis and watch manager John Hermon and was won by Taran Rees, a pupil at Ysgol Gynradd Llandeilo Primary. Taran was also presented with a voucher to spend at Eve’s Toy Shop, Llandeilo, organised by councillor Edward Thomas.
Runner-up voucher prizes were presented to Poppy Thomas from Ffairfach Primary School, Morgan Vaughan-Morris from Ysgol Teilo Sant and Katherine Wright from Llandeilo Primary School.
As an extra reward each of the runners-up along with the winner have been gifted with a firefighter experience day at the station.
Cllr Edward Thomas said: “I was pleased to have sponsored the painting competition.
“Vouchers were purchased for the winner and runners up to use in Eve’s Toy Shop. Well done to Carl Lewis and John Herman for organising the competition and well done all the children from the primary schools for entering the competition.
“I managed to secure an extra special treat for the winner and runners-up - a firefighter experience with the station after lockdown is eased again. Taran Rees’s picture captured the mood of the year. Thank you to all our essential services.”
