FAMILY and friends will pay their respects to popular sports figure Colin Haines on Saturday (27 February), when the funeral cortege passes his beloved Ammanford AFC and other local sports clubs.

He was a keen supporter of many sports teams in the town, and his likeable personality earned the respect of the sports community, throughout the Amman Valley and beyond.

The cortege will depart the chapel of rest at Betws at 11am, before travelling down Park St into Ammanford, passing the pitch, before turning into Ammanford AFC at 11:10am from Parcyrhun side.

Travelling along Tir-y-Dail Lane past Ammanford cricket pitch, the cortege will reach Tycroes via Penybanc, before then travelling via Penygarn road, Tycroes RFC on to Teglan Park at 11:25am.

Colin, of Teglan Park, Tycroes, husband of Margaret, father of Rhodri, grandfather of Nia and Ella, and brother of Brian, Peter and the late Dewi, passed peacefully on 30 January at his home.

A private service will be held at Llanelli Crematorium, and a live webcast of the service will be available through contacting the funeral directors.
