CARMARTHENSHIRE’S clean-up operation is continuing following flooding in parts of the county over the weekend.

Crews have been working around the clock to clear debris left by the floods, with specialist contractors being drafted in to help in some areas.

A full assessment of the damage caused is being carried out and inspections of affected roads, verges and bridges on major routes will be completed by the end of the week.

A support fund has been set up for businesses to help them recover from the damage and disruption caused by the flooding.

Carmarthenshire County Council business support officers are contacting businesses who have known to be affected by floods to offer assistance, if needed.

Following an amber weather warning on Friday torrential rain and high river levels caused flooding in several areas.

Carmarthenshire County Council leader, Cllr Emlyn Dole said: “I would like to thank staff who have worked around the clock to respond to the weekend floods and who are working hard in the aftermath to clear up the affected parts of the county. A support fund has been set up to help businesses recover from the damage and I would urge those affected to get in touch.”
