Llandeilo’s Festival of the Senses has launched a virtual version of its hugely popular Santa run for 2020.

Following the success of last year, town mayor Owen James called on the organisers of the Festival of Senses to arrange another run, but one that would follow Covid-19 restrictions.

Mr James said: “Last year we raised a great deal of money for the mayor’s charities. This year I asked the Festival of Senses to organise it as they missed almost an entire year of much needed fundraising (during the coronavirus lockdowns).”

Anyone who enters the Santa run will receive a locally made memento and a Santa Run t-shirt.

Organiser Clare Thomas said: “Participants can run 5k between December 12 and 26 - any route, anywhere. But you are encouraged to make it Christmassy.”

Participants are encouraged to share pictures of themselves taking part to the event Facebook group with various prizes offered.

Runners can also join the Strava ‘Llandeilo FOS Santa Run Club’ to post training in the run up to the December event and as well as the actual Santa run itself - visit the Strava site www.strava.com/clubs/788852

Fellow organiser Christoph Fischer said: “The first 150 entries - collection only - will receive a goody bag supplied by Co-op, Llandeilo.

“You will have to comply with all Government Guidance on Covid-19 at the time that you run.

“Happy Running and Happy Christmas from all at the Festival of the Senses."
