A SWAP shop with a mission to support the community throughout the Covid pandemic and beyond has been set up in Ammanford.

Rhynew, based at the old hairdressers on College Street, is open on Fridays to accept donations and people can also help themselves to anything in stock, for free.

Members of Ammanford Evangelical Church set up the project with the aim of helping people in the town.

"We are Christians and we love our community and we want everyone to help each other out through these difficult times," said volunteer Cheryl Dulake.

Adding: "But it is not just about helping people who are struggling during the pandemic; anyone is welcome to help themselves to items in the shop, no matter what their current circumstances are."

Donations can be taken to the shop during its opening hours on Fridays between 10am and 3pm. Government guidelines are in place including the track and trace scheme.

All donations are left in quarantine and cleaned before being put out on display.
