Fire crews had to be called when a large fire broke out at Caldew Wood.
Two fire engines and a water bowser attended the blaze at Penrith at about 2.15pm on Sunday.
The fire involved one excavator and was extinguished using two dry powder extinguishers and one main jet.
Fire crews were in attendance for about one hour and 30 minutes.
