CARMARTHENSHIRE cases continue to rise with 30 new cases recorded in the county yesterday.

According to the latest figures from Public Health Wales for the Hywel Dda region Ceredigion saw five new cases and none in Pembrokeshire.

The news comes as Carmarthenshire county council issue a warning to residents that a local lockdown could be on the cards if cases continue to rise.

In total, 1,969 cases have been found across the health board area to date - 1,374 in Carmarthenshire, 427 in Pembrokeshire and 168 in Ceredigion.

Across Wales, 727 cases were identified yesterday from 8,808 tests. To date, 33,041 cases have been found across Wales.

Ten deaths due to the virus were reported to PHW. No new deaths were recorded in Hywel Dda.
