THE FAMILY of Tony Hillard, who was killed in a crash on the M4 have paid tribute to a "caring family man".

The 70-year-old from Saron, Ammanford, died following the road traffic collision between junctions 43 and 44 at around 4.20pm on Monday, September 21.

A statement from the family issued by South Wales Police said they are "beyond heartbroken with the sudden loss of Tony".

It added: "He was such a huge part of the family that we just don't know how we are going to continue without him.

“We can only describe him as a first rate, loving, caring family man and was always the first to offer his help and support.

“He could be a bit of a joker and we smile now at how cringey some of them could be.

“Throughout his whole life he had a love and passion for motorcycles which he passed on to so many family members. He was an experienced rider and we, as family, take some comfort in the fact he died doing something he absolutely loved.

“We have been touched and overwhelmed by the amount of support and kindness we have received from family, friends and the wider community.

“Finally, we would like to take this opportunity to thank all the emergency services at scene who tried to help Tony.”

South Wales Police is appealing for witnesses following the incident, which involved a single motorcycle ridden by Mr Hillard.

A spokesperson said: "Anyone who witnessed the incident, or the manner the motorcycle was being ridden in prior to the incident and anyone with dash cam footage should contact us on 101 quoting occurrence 2000346169."
